From where I sit

Acts 13:36 is a very interesting verse of Scripture to me. It reads, "Now when David had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep and was buried with his ancestors". Think about the amazing message contained in this single verse of Scripture, and the realities it holds for us.

Have you ever considered that just like King David, we also are responsible for serving God's purpose in our own generation? That tells me you are not an accident, insignificant, or irrelevant. Rather, you have been strategically placed in this generation with the privilege of serving the awesome purposes of God.

The bible tells us the story of David. He embraced the call and fulfilled God's purpose. Same thing with Esther. Her uncle Mordecai reminded her that if she did not obey God, then he would use someone else. He also reminded her that she had come into her position for "such a time as this".

From where I sit, I see more than ever that we have come into this time and place for such a time as this. God has great plans and we must prepare ourselves to participate wholeheartedly. From where I sit, nothing else comes close to the joy and meaningfulness of serving God's purpose in our generation.

What will you do? How will you respond? From where I sit, when it's all said and done, I want it to be said of me, just like David and just like Esther, that I chose to serve the purpose of God in my generation.
